Locastica Terms of Service
Last Updated: 2026-04-20 Effective Date: 2026-04-20
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Locastica, including locastica.com, the signed-in product, and related services, features, and content.
By using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Please also read our Privacy Policy and Legal Disclaimer.
2. Service Positioning And Important Limits
Locastica provides licensing intelligence for England's private rented sector.
The product is designed to help users understand likely licensing obligations, supporting evidence, freshness, provenance, change signals, and licensing fee context where available. It is not a substitute for professional legal, tax, financial, or regulatory advice.
Where the product shows licensing fee information, that information is provided as operational context rather than a guarantee that a council has not changed the fee since the last verification point.
You remain responsible for:
- reviewing official authority sources
- checking that information is still current
- checking current licensing fees before acting where fees matter commercially or legally
- deciding what action to take
- obtaining professional advice where appropriate
We do not guarantee any specific legal, commercial, regulatory, or court outcome.
3. Eligibility And Accounts
To use certain features, you may need an account. You agree to:
- provide accurate information
- keep account credentials secure
- use the account only in compliance with law and these Terms
- notify us if you become aware of unauthorised access
We may suspend or terminate access for fraud, abuse, non-payment, illegal activity, or material breach of these Terms.
4. Product Access And Plans
Locastica currently uses the following public plan structure:
| Plan | Public position |
|---|---|
| Free | Evaluation tier |
| Starter | First paid self-serve tier |
| Portfolio | Core self-serve operational tier |
| Professional | Self-serve tier with API access |
| Scale | Highest bounded self-serve tier |
| Enterprise | Contact-led custom commercial tier |
Current pricing and limits are described on the pricing page and may be updated from time to time.
As of the current launch model:

£79/month - Professional is
£199/month - Scale is
£499/month - annual self-serve billing is available for Starter, Portfolio, Professional, and Scale at the then-current annual price shown on the pricing page
- Enterprise remains custom and contact-led
Feature limits, fair-use caps, and eligibility for API or higher-volume workflows depend on the plan you are on.
5. Billing And Payments
If you subscribe to a paid plan:
- billing is processed through Stripe
- you authorise recurring charges for the selected subscription until cancellation or change
- you request that paid digital access begins as soon as checkout completes
- failed payments may result in downgrade, suspension, or loss of access to paid features
5.1 Billing period and renewal
- monthly plans renew every month until cancelled
- annual plans renew every year until cancelled
- the current billing period, renewal date, and active plan are shown in your account and reflected in Stripe
5.2 Cancellation and downgrade
- upgrades may be available self-serve inside the product
- downgrades, cancellation, and certain billing changes may require contacting support while we keep launch-stage billing operations aligned
- unless stated otherwise, cancellation stops future renewals rather than reversing the current billing period
- paid access may continue until the end of the current paid period where applicable
5.3 Refunds
Except where required by law or where we explicitly agree otherwise in writing, subscription fees are generally non-refundable once the billing period has started or paid digital access has been provisioned.
If billing fails materially because of a confirmed platform error, duplicate charge, or other verified operational failure, contact support and we will review the case.
5.4 Consumer digital-service acknowledgement
If you are purchasing as a consumer and you complete checkout for immediate access to Locastica during any statutory cancellation period, you expressly:
- request that supply of the paid digital service begins immediately
- acknowledge that, where applicable, this may mean you lose any statutory right to cancel once supply begins
Nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot legally be excluded. Where consumer law gives you mandatory rights, those rights continue to apply.
5.5 Price changes
We may change prices or plan limits from time to time. Where required, we will provide reasonable notice before changes take effect.
6. Acceptable Use
You must not:
- use the service unlawfully
- interfere with the service or attempt to gain unauthorised access
- scrape or bulk extract data beyond permitted product or API use
- misuse outputs as if they were guaranteed official or professional advice
- resell or redistribute the service or its outputs beyond the rights granted by your plan or contract
- upload harmful code, malware, or abusive content
7. Intellectual Property
Locastica and its licensors retain rights in the service, software, branding, content, and product design.
You retain rights in the data and documents you provide, subject to the limited rights we need to operate the service.
Unless a separate contract says otherwise, you may use generated outputs for your own internal or client-serving operational purposes, but not to create a competing resale product.
